The HeatWave Classic is a 100% volunteer run annual event that promotes athletic opportunities for youth in the Downtown Eastside. The volunteers behind the HeatWave Classic want to provide a means for students to give back to the community by encouraging leadership, discipline, and responsibility, and helping them to lead healthy active lifestyles. The HeatWave Classic, in collaboration with the Britannia Community Teen Center, offer youth an opportunity to participate in a free basketball tournament, a free music concert featuring local youth, and a no cost community BBQ.
